Glastonbury Festival is the world’s largest outdoor music festival. It is held on a farm in the southwest of England, and this year it went from June 26 to June 30. 135,000 tickets were sold, and music lovers camped on the farm for five days. They had a choice of different kinds of music on many different stages. The festival has had big names like the Rolling Stones, David Bowie and Lady Gaga since it began in 1970. This year, some big names were The Killers, Kylie Minogue, and Janet Jackson. There was also one Japanese band. Can you guess who it was? It was Babymetal. (by Prof. Douglas Jarrell)

I went to a language teaching conference in Tokyo over the weekend. I’ve known some of the teachers for more than 15 years. Of course, we talk about teaching, but the conference is also like a reunion, a chance to see old friends. Last night I had a long talk with one teacher. We had dinner, but I still had a couple of hours before my bus left. We didn’t feel like coffee. Can you guess where we spent an hour talking? On the Yamanote Line. We started at Harajuku and took the train all the way around Tokyo! When we got back to Shinjuku, we said goodbye and I went on to Tokyo Station. (by Prof. Douglas Jarrell)
