Because many people are staying at home every day, they are doing more cooking. For some people, cooking at home is no problem, but life can be difficult for people who don’t usually cook. Don’t worry if you don’t know how to cook. You can find a lot of cooking videos on YouTube. One of these videos was in the American news last week. A politician from Virginia showed how he made a tuna melt, a very popular sandwich in the U.S. He said that it tasted great, but people thought that he was a terrible cook. An election was held in Japan on Sunday for the House of Councillors. It seems that many voters were not interested because fewer than 50% took part in the election. Prime Minister Abe’s party is the largest in Japan, and the LDP got the most votes. I was surprised to see a new party called the Protect the Nation from NHK Party. It got one seat. Usually political parties have a manifesto with many different ideas, but this party only has one idea. It wants to stop NHK from collecting monthly fees for its TV programs. (by Douglas Jarrell)
