The rainy season is finally over in Japan. Okinawa came out of the rainy season first. Actually, that part of Japan had a shorter-than-usual rainy season. It only lasted a month, ending on June 12. The rest of Japan had a longer-than-usual rainy season. It started in the middle of June and has just ended. I think many people are relieved. They are sick of rain almost every day. Besides, the rain caused bad floods throughout Japan. The summer sun should help dry up the places that have been badly hit. Just be careful not to stay outside too long under the sun. You may get heat stroke. (by Prof.Douglas Jarrell)

2019年10月11日「モバイル英語学習」第634(英語のエッセイ): A Country with Many Natural Disasters

——————————-
Another big typhoon (No.19) is approaching Japan. I don’t remember how many typhoons have hit Japan so far this year because there have been too many. But I remember that the last one (No.15) was powerful enough to leave hundreds of thousands of homes without electricity for a long time, especially in Chiba Prefecture. There are still some homes without electricity in Chiba even now, and many homes are waiting to be repaired. Japan is a country with many natural disasters, isn’t it? I hope that typhoon No.19 will go away soon! (by a reader)
