Whenever the news comes on TV here in New Hampshire, the first thing that they talk about is the weather. Then, after 10-15 minutes of other news, they go back to the weather. Why are people so concerned about the weather? Because it changes so quickly. When I got up yesterday morning, it was partly cloudy. By 9 a.m., it was sunny, so I walked into town from my sister’s house. I came back quickly because I could see big, black clouds coming. It rained a little around lunch, and then it stopped. In the afternoon, we had a thunderstorm. I stayed inside. (by Prof. Douglas Jarrell)

Ethiopia, a country in East Africa, has a problem. It is losing trees every year. The main reason is that there are more and more people living in the country. Ethiopia has the second largest population of any country in Africa. As the population grows, people cut down more trees for farming, and they use the wood for cooking and heating. This causes many environmental problems, so the government is trying to change things. On July 30, they closed public offices, and people all over Ethiopia planted 350 million seedlings in one day.
