This year we had a real Silver Week for the first time since 2015. It wasn’t a full week, but many people had four days off because there were two holidays after the weekend. During Golden Week this year, most people stayed at home because of the coronavirus. Many more people were traveling this Silver Week. There were traffic jams on the expressways, and trains and planes had very few empty seats. My daughter and her family went on a trip to the countryside but got caught in a traffic jam on the way back home. Sometimes you just have to take the bad with the good. (by Prof. Douglas Jarrell)

The other day, I watched a new kind of horror movie. It was made this year, and it takes place during the corona pandemic. Six friends cannot meet in person, so they decide to have an online party. They invite a medium (someone who can talk to the spirits of dead people) to the party. Strange things begin to happen, and the movie gets very scary! This movie is amazing because we see everything happening on one computer screen. The movie is called “Host.” I saw it on an American movie streaming site, but I hope it comes to Japan soon.
