2020年5月5日「モバイル英語学習」第653 号 (英語のエッセイ): It Won’t Kill My Spirit

——————————-
I am going to study in the UK this September. I have saved money for 5 years and got my boss’s permission to go to graduate school. Last October I finally passed the entrance examination, and everything seemed to be going well. Then COVID-19 spread throughout the world. It might prevent me from going. I am trying to be positive even though Japanese cannot get a visa to the UK right now. If I cannot go this year, the UK will still be there, and I am sure I will have another chance to visit the country someday. The coronavirus has killed many people, but it won’t kill my spirit. 2020年1月29日「モバイル英語学習」第645(英語のエッセイ): Works of Art

————————————-
“Kei” is a restaurant in Paris. It is named after the owner and chef, Kobayashi Kei. He is in the news now because his restaurant has just gotten three stars from the Michelin guide book. That is the highest rating you can get for a restaurant. This is the first time that a Japanese chef in France has received three stars. You have to go to Paris to taste his food, but you should take a look at it on the Internet. Kobayashi said that he doesn’t need pictures on the walls of his restaurant because his dishes are colorful enough. He is right. They are works of art! (by Prof. Douglas Jarrell)
