Notes
Uganda ウガンダ(アフリカの国)
United Arab Emirates アラブ首長国連邦
——————–
I am in Uganda traveling with a small group from Japan. Uganda is in East Africa, so the easiest way to go there is through the Middle East. We took Qatar Airways and flew via Doha, Qatar, to Entebbe, the international airport of Uganda. As we left Doha, the plane did not fly the short route over Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Instead, it flew around over Oman. Then I remembered that Saudi Arabia and the U.A.E. are not friendly now. They don’t let Qatar Airways fly over, so the planes have to go around and take a longer route. (by Prof. Douglas Jarrell)

There is a video on YouTube called “18 Weird Things That Only Exist in Japan.” These things seem very strange to Americans. I’ll tell you about three of them. If you are interested, you can go to YouTube and see the rest.
(1) You can turn around the seats on trains when you want to sit in a group of four. I’ve never seen seats like that on trains in any other country.
(2) Water comes out of the top of the toilet. You can wash your hands with it, and it’s a good way to save water.
(3) One fast-food chain has special napkins for women who want to cover their faces when they eat hamburgers. (by Prof. Douglas Jarrell)
