I went for a walk in a park a few days ago. When I left the park, I noticed that my phone was gone. It had probably fallen out of my small jacket pocket. I walked around the park looking for it, but I never found it. Finally, I called my wife from a pay phone near the subway station and asked her to try calling my phone. I waited for five minutes and called back. She said that the phone was at a nearby police station. The police officer saw that I was able to open the phone and gave it back to me after checking my ID card. I just wish I could thank the kind person who found it! (by Prof. Douglas Jarrell)

One company has been doing a survey of Japanese children for more than 30 years. They ask children from the third grade of elementary school through high school what they want to be. In past years, many young boys wanted to be professional athletes or YouTubers, and young girls wanted to be bakers or singers. This year, the answers are different. For the first time, most boys and girls say that they just want a company job. Where have their dreams gone? I’m not sure, but I think the pandemic has changed the way they think.
