I saw a report about a special Japanese robot on a U.S. news program the other day. Japan has problems with wild animals. Bears come into towns looking for food, and they sometimes attack people. Deer and wild boar don’t attack people, but they are a bigger problem for farmers. They go into fields and eat up the vegetables. Now, people are fighting back with a robot called “Super Monster Wolf.” It looks like a wolf. When it sees wild animals, its eyes turn red, and it makes scary sounds. It seems to work. People haven’t seen any wild animals since they started using it. (by Douglas Jarrell)

Notes

The Crew Dragon spacecraft has arrived at the International Space Station (ISS). The 4-member crew joins 3 other astronauts who were already on the ISS. One of the members is Soichi Noguchi, who is visiting the ISS for the third time. There is one problem, however. There are only 6 places to sleep on the ISS. One person has to sleep in the Crew Dragon. Will they use “jan-ken-pon” to decide? No, actually, the head of the mission, Mike Hopkins, will sleep there. (by Prof. Douglas Jarrell)
