Moon viewing day is on September 21 this year. You will be able to see a full moon if the weather is good. Many people in Japan will go outside to see it, and shops will sell special sweets for the occasion. But you don’t have to wait until next Tuesday to see a beautiful moon. I looked outside last night and saw a half moon. I used my binoculars to get a better view. It was smaller than a full moon, but the craters were very clear, especially near the dark side. You can see where the Apollo 11 astronauts landed if you look it up on a map of the moon. Don’t wait for Tuesday. Go out and take a look at the moon tonight. (by Prof. Douglas Jarrell)
