I work for a public school in Tokyo. Before that, I worked for several different companies for many years. I wanted to be an English teacher, but teaching English is only 10% of my job. At school, we have to do a lot of paperwork. We also have to counsel students and give them guidance. We often have to talk to their parents, too. Since the parents can only come to school after work, we have to stay late. There is not a lot of money for education in Japan, so there aren’t enough teachers or other staff. These are the reasons why homeroom teachers cannot leave school earlier. (by a reader)

2017年3月2日「モバイル英語学習」第405号(小学校英語教育):A Lucky Australian

—————————
There was a story about a very lucky man on the Australian TV news yesterday. He was cleaning out his car the other day, and he was looking at his shopping bags. He was surprised to find a lottery ticket that was more than one year old in one of the bags. He was going to throw it away, but he decided to check the number online. Was he surprised! He had a winning number. The ticket was worth more than one million Australian dollars. That’s about 90 million yen! He is very happy that he didn’t throw the ticket away. Isn’t cleaning wonderful when you find money!
