Yoshino Akira has won the Nobel Prize for Chemistry together with John B. Goodenough and M. Stanley Whittingham. The three scientists were given the prize for their research on the lithium battery. This battery has changed the world. Older batteries were weaker, and they were much bigger. Lithium batteries are strong and much smaller, and they can be recharged many times. They power many things such as mobile phones, computers, and electric cars. Thanks to discoveries by Whittingham and Goodenough, Yoshino was able to create the first workable lithium battery. 2019年9月25日「モバイル英語学習」第629号(英語のエッセイ): Google Translation Is Getting Better

Google is getting better at translating English into Japanese. I was using the Chrome browser the other day, and I translated one of my stories by mistake. I read the Japanese translation and realized that it was very good. It was easy to understand and written in natural Japanese. Apparently this isn’t true with every language. One teacher told me that when he went to Cambodia, Google didn’t do a good job of translating Khmer (the language of Cambodia). Google gets a lot of feedback and data from people translating between English and Japanese but probably not so much from Khmer speakers. (by Prof. Douglas Jarrell)
