How many Disney theme parks are there in the world? Until today, there were five. The first Disneyland was built near Los Angeles in Southern California in 1955. Then they built Disney World in Orlando, Florida, in 1971. It is by far the biggest resort. Tokyo Disneyland was the first Disneyland outside the U.S.A. It opened in 1983. The first Disneyland in Europe was built near Paris in 1992. Then Hong Kong Disneyland opened in 2005. On June 16, Disney opened its newest resort in Shanghai, China.
