Get ready to watch a great performance in the sky. There will be a lunar eclipse tonight, and the moon will get dark for several hours. How does this happen? The earth moves between the sun and the moon, and the earth’s shadow falls on the moon. The moon loses its bright yellow color and becomes a dark red. Tonight the moon will start to change color after 8:50 p.m, and at 10:30 it will be at its darkest. It will get lighter again, and just after midnight the eclipse will be over.
