It’s almost summer vacation in the United States, which means the beginning of the summer movie season. There are a few times during the year when a lot of movies are released, and summer is one of the big ones. Nine new movies were released in May. Four movies, Splice, Killers, Get Him to the Greek, and Marmaduke, were released on June 4. The Karate Kid, a remake of an old movie, and the A-Team both open June 11, and two more movies, Toy Story 3 and Jonah Hex, will open on June 18. In total, your choices will increase by eleven during the month of June, and you will get another nine choices during July. You can see how important the summer season is to Hollywood, so how about a movie? (by Prof. Carmella Lieske)

A book called “Transcend: Nine Steps to Living Well Forever,” discusses how we can extend our life long enough so that scientists in the not-too-distant future (30 years) can reprogram our bodies by using millions of little robots in our blood called “nanobots” to keep us healthy. The author of the book, Ray Kurzweil, a computer scientist, takes 120 pills a day to maintain his health for the next 30 years. He might need them because he is already 60 years old! (by Prof. Simon Smith)
