2016年10月13日「モバイル英語学習」第385号(英語のエッセイ ): All You Need is a DJ

Note:
era: 時代;
—————–
There were no musical instruments, bands or singers on the stage at the open-air event. In the spotlight, there was only a DJ with a headphone playing music. Over 40,000 people had their hands in the air and were dancing to the music. It was my first time at a huge electric dance music event called “Ultra Japan 2016” in Odaiba, Tokyo. When the electronic piano was first sold a long time ago, some professional musicians refused to play it because they thought they would lose their job. Now we are really in a new era of music. All you need for a concert is a DJ! (written by a reader, edited by Prof. Douglas Jarrell)

2016年10月6日「モバイル英語学習」第384号(英語のエッセイ ): Plastic Money

Britain has started to make its money out of plastic. Last month, it came out with a plastic 5 pound note. Most countries still use paper money, so why is Britain changing? Australia was the first country to change to plastic. They did it because they were having problems with people making counterfeit paper money. Plastic bills are almost impossible to copy. Another reason is that plastic lasts longer. You can wash your money by mistake and it will be fine. I wonder if other countries are going to change and start using this new technology.
