It’s been raining almost every day this week. Luckily, the rain often stops in the morning when I take my dog for a walk. When it stops, I can hear cicadas. Last weekend, I found the shell of a cicada on a branch. It looked alive, but it didn’t move. I took it off the branch and wanted to take it home, but my granddaughter stopped me. She wanted me to throw it away. She knows that her mother is afraid of cicadas. (by Prof. Douglas Jarrell)

Have you ever seen a Segway? It has two wheels, and you stand on it when you ride. When I was in San Francisco the last time, I noticed a group of about 10 people on Segways. They were on a guided tour. I checked on the Internet and found a site for Segway tours. They have 2- and 3-hour tours in four American cities. You can also go on a Segway tour in Paris, Vienna, Berlin and Budapest. I really want to try it once.  (by Prof. Douglas Jarrell)
