As I was leaving the university on Monday night, I saw the moon rising. It was almost a full moon. The moon was full the following night. It looked much bigger than it did an hour later in the sky. Scientists call this the “moon illusion.” Some scientists believe that the moon seems larger than usual at the horizon because we know that the horizon is far away. Up in the sky, however, we have no sense of perspective. We can’t compare it to anything else. If it’s clear this evening, go out and try to see the moon illusion. (by Prof. Douglas Jarrell)

Last year, I had an opportunity to work in a nursery in England. I had been there about 3 months and I had an absolutely wonderful time. All the children were so sweet and affable. This summer holiday, I went back to England to see my friends. I wondered if I could pop in to the nursery but it had been a while since I left. I didn’t think the children remembered me. One day, in a supermarket, a little boy came around and shouted “Annie!” That is what I was called in the nursery. I was very surprised that he still remembered me. How lovely!
