This story is from a students’ aunt. She wrote:
My nephew went abroad to study English in Canada. He stayed with a Canadian family. His host parents were supposed to take care of his breakfast and dinner at first, but that didn’t happen. They worked all day, so he had to make his meals himself. He had never cooked in his life. He asked his mother how to cook using Skype. When he came back to Japan, he had grown up. Now he speaks English very well, and he’s become quite a cook. Things have turned out well. (by Prof. Douglas Jarrell)

2013年9月10日「モバイル英語学習]第200号(エッセイ): Tokyo wins race to host 2020 Olympic Games!

Sunday night NHK suddenly changed its schedule, and my favorite TV program was canceled. I wasn’t really surprised. I knew that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) had chosen Tokyo as the city to hold the Summer Olympic Games in 2020. People all over Japan were cheering. They also showed old film of Tokyo before the 1964 Olympics. It’s amazing how much Tokyo has changed! Monday, there was another piece of good news. The IOC decided to keep wrestling as an Olympic sport. Unfortunately, neither baseball/softball nor squash will be in the 2016 Olympic games. (by Prof. Douglas Jarrell)
