The New Year has already started and it is a good time to make predictions about how things will change this year. Last year the world saw a huge growth in the number of Facebook users. This number will no doubt continue to rise. Last year also saw the arrival of the long awaited iPad and many new E-Readers. This year I predict that as all of these technical devices become cheaper and cheaper we will start to see more and more of them on the trains and buses. (by Prof. Simon Smith)

2011年1月12日「モバイル英語学習」第81号(エッセイ):Metrodome Collapse

********************
In December last year, the upper Midwest in the US got a lot of snow -17 inches in less than 24 hours. It closed highways and delayed flights, but more than that, it caused the Metrodome roof to collapse. It was both amazing and shocking. The Metrodome is a huge indoor stadium where the Minnesota Vikings, a professional team, play football even when the temperature is -20 outside! The Metrodome also hosts events like car races and shows. It’s an iconic building, and it’s in a place where it snows all the time. That’s one reason why the roof collapse was surprising!
