Your tongue is a special muscle in your body. It is the only muscle that is connected at just one end, so it moves freely like a small snake. 人間の舌についての10の面白くて不思議な事実
舌は人間の体の中でも特別な筋肉です。片方だけがつながっていて、まるで小さなヘビのように自由に動きます。舌にはおよそ1万個の味蕾があり、年をとると少しずつ弱くなって、辛い食べ物の味があまり強く感じられなくなります。舌の表面には「舌乳頭」と呼ばれる小さなでこぼこがあり、ピンク色のじゅうたんのように見えます。
たくさん話すと舌が疲れることもありますが、食べ物を動かすほど強い力を持っています。また、舌はとても早く治ります。かんだりやけどしても、数日で治ることが多いです。舌の形や模様は人それぞれ違っていて、指紋のように本人を特定することもできます。
舌は「ブーッ」というような面白い音を出すのにも役立ちます。また、鼻と一緒に働いて味を感じ取るため、まるで食べ物の探偵のようです。舌はよく伸びたりねじれたりして、難しい言葉を言うときにも助けてくれます。そして面白いことに、人の8割は集中しているときに少し舌を出すそうです。まるで答えを“味わっている”みたいですね。
