I have my parents in Japan, but I also have parents in New Zealand. When I went to New Zealand on the Shimane University program two years ago, I met them. They were my host parents. When I met them for the first time, the mother gave me a big hug. I felt I was really welcome. They repeatedly said to me “Take your time” when I talked with them in English during my stay. Though I was not good at speaking English, I didn’t hesitate to speak to them thanks to such words and their attitude toward me. I really love them and respect them. And I’m glad to say that I’m going to their place again this February. I’m really looking forward to seeing them and want to talk about many things with them.
