Notes:
chestnut tiger アサギマダラ
—————————-
The autumn has been warm recently, so it is difficult to know what to wear. You can see some people in sweaters and jackets. Others are still wearing lighter clothes. The leaves on the trees in the city streets have started to change color, but they don’t seem as beautiful this year. The warm weather has also brought back butterflies. On a sunny day, you can see them flying around looking for flowers. Why are they still here? Some butterflies like the chestnut tiger fly south for the winter, but the butterflies we are seeing now usually sleep in winter. (by Prof. Douglas Jarrell)

2018年11月5日「モバイル英語学習」第574号(英語のエッセイ): Daylight Saving Time is 100 Years Old

Daylight Saving Time 夏時間;
———————–
Daylight Saving Time is 100 years old this year. It started in the U.S. in 1918. Clocks were moved forward one hour in March so that the sun would come up later and the evenings would stay light longer. This helped to save energy because people didn’t need to use lights in the early evening. Every November, they changed their clocks back. This year, that change came yesterday. Many people now believe that Daylight Saving Time is no longer necessary. It doesn’t save energy because people drive around more. Also, people’s bodies and brains have trouble getting used to the time change. (by Prof. Douglas Jarrell)
